Core Values
Integrity: Our word is ironclad; we stand by transparency and accountability in every operation. No excuses.
Innovation: We’re rewriting the playbook in an industry bound by tradition. Thwala is built on fresh ideas and relentless problem-solving, showing that mining can be as dynamic and forward-thinking as any other sector.
Community Commitment: Our success is nothing if it doesn’t lift others. We’re here to make a lasting impact, investing back into the communities we serve and proving that business can and should benefit everyone involved.
Empowerment: We give power back to the people, from the youth ready to make their mark to the women breaking barriers in mining. Thwala is where voices are heard, the potential is realised, and everyone has the freedom to go big.
Sustainability: Our vision isn’t short-term. We’re committed to practices that respect and protect South Africa’s natural resources, ensuring our operations benefit future generations as much as the present.
Corporate Responsibility
Thwala Resources elevates people. Our commitment to community impact is about creating real change through education, jobs, youth empowerment, and entrepreneurial growth. We’re not here to just take up space; we’re here to make a difference.
- Educational Outreach in Schools: We’re in the schools, inspiring the next generation to see mining and construction as purposeful careers. Through regular outreach, we’re sparking interest in STEM and skilled trades, lighting the path for young people to take charge of their futures.
- Youth Sports Programmes: Thwala doesn’t sit back while our youth lack structure. We sponsor local soccer and netball tournaments to build teamwork, discipline, and community pride.
- Job Placement Assistance: We make jobs happen. We connect job seekers with opportunities by teaming up with local unemployment forums. Our partnerships with employers ensure that people get the careers they deserve.
- Entrepreneurial Training Workshops: We collaborate with South African government agencies such as the NYDA (National Youth Development Agency), SEFA (Small Enterprise Finance Agency), CIPC (Companies and Intellectual Property Commission), and SARS to host workshops for aspiring young entrepreneurs. These programs focus on business planning, financial management, compliance, and accessing funding, empowering youth with the knowledge and resources they need to launch their ventures.
- 100% Youth-Led: We prove that youth means power, ambition, and capability. As a fully youth-led organisation, we’re breaking down stereotypes and rewriting the rules. Our team is made up of driven, innovative leaders shaping this industry’s future right now.
About our Founder: Thokozani Thwala
Thokozani Thwala, founder and CEO of Thwala Resources, is on a mission to create real opportunities for youth and drive transformation in his community. Raised in a rural area with limited resources, Thokozani witnessed his community’s daily obstacles. Determined to make a difference, he set out to be a force for change.
With an engineering degree from the University of Johannesburg, Thokozani brings technical skills and a clear commitment to social impact. His work in mining opened his eyes to the industry’s economic potential and the need for a youth-led approach to making that potential actual. Knowing the industry is often controlled by legacy companies with old ways of thinking, he founded Thwala Resources to disrupt that status quo.
Thokozani’s leadership is built on integrity, reliability, and purpose. For him, transforming the mining industry isn’t just business—it’s about empowering communities, creating jobs, and inspiring young people to build meaningful careers. Under his direction, Thwala Resources has become a respected, socially driven company known for integrity, quality, and a commitment to real change.
Thwala Resources isn’t here to play it safe or settle for how things have always been done. South Africa’s mining and construction industries can be real powerhouses for change, economic empowerment, and sustainable growth. We’re taking on outdated norms, putting community first, and harnessing the energy and ideas of youth to drive this industry forward. Thwala Resources is here to lead, not follow.
Every partnership, every project, and every community initiative we launch reinforces our commitment to social responsibility and game-changing innovation. This journey is just getting started, and we’re calling on our clients, partners, and communities to stand with us as we build a new, more equitable era for mining and construction in South Africa.
